Volunteers in the MHM
The Muskegon Heritage Museum offers many opportunities for Muskegon area residents to volunteer. With no paid staff in the organization, we are always looking for help. After you have surveyed the opportunities in our organization below, contact us by email, phone (231)-722-1363 or stop by when the museum is open to discuss volunteering with the staff.
Heritage Museum
Museum Staffing during open times:
We need volunteers who are willing to answer questions about the museum and our collection. Training for those assisting at the museum will be coordinated according to your available time.
Museum Research
There is a need for persons who are willing to search local records for upcoming exhibits. Whether that be at the Muskegon Public Library, County Museum, some other reference location or the Internet.
Docents
Docents provide tours of the museum for school or other large group tours. The museum is set up to be self guided most of the time, but these volunteers can provided extra information about our collection. You may be trained to run the printing press, steam engine or other equipment if you are so inclined.
Museum Maintenance
As a volunteer based organization we need people to assist with general weekly vacuming and sweeping as well as painting and repair of the museum structure and our equipment.
Muskegon Heritage Association
